2025 – Lake Placid Youth Hockey Tournament
February 20th-23rd had a few of the Southern Rhode Island Youth Hockey Association teams travel north for their annual pilgrimage to the “Mecca” of United States ice hockey – Lake Placid, NY. While several teams attended from SRI, only one made it to and won in the finals – the U14A Bantam team of which Lincoln is a part of. The pictures here include several photos from the tournament of multiple teams over the few days. Sadly, very few photos from the championship game were made due to the injury Lincoln had, but at least they earned a tournament title! Enjoy! (sidenote: the quality of several of the images are…

U10B – Southern Rhode Island 2022 Lake Placid Tournament
Pictures, experiences, hotels, junk food, tobogganing, pizza, snow, pools, hot tubs, adult beverages….and hockey. So, so much hockey. Knee hockey, pond hockey, tournament hockey. The Olympic facilities. The USA Rink, 1932 rink…..the hallowed 1980 rink. Memories. Some of the kids have been here before and many visited for the first time. These are some of the photos captured over 3 of the 4 games the U10B team participated in. These are not from the official photographer of the venue. Champions!!! Easy as U10A-B-C, 1-2-3!
Not a bad way to end the season! The Southern Rhode Island Rams go 1-2-3 with the U10 division having all teams win their respective league’s championships. It was a hell of the season contending with all the modifications, stops/restarts, limited practice times, masking, entry procedures….the kids dealt with everything like pros. The adults had a harder time transitioning, but it was all worth it as the teams still got to play. This win makes it all worthwhile! Thank you to the coaches, Steve McLaughlin & Joe Hinds, for a great season and consistent leadership for the kids. Good luck to everyone for the upcoming tryouts and enjoying the warmer…

Game 2 – SRI Rams vs Vikings (3/27/21)
After two quick and early 1st period goals, the Rams had a tough time getting the biscuit back into the net. However, solid defense the rest of the game and excellent puck possession allowed the Rams to keep the lead and come out with a semi-final win! Next stop, the championship!

After giving up the first goal of the game to the Waves, the Rams came back firing. Taking a 3-1 lead most of the way through the first period. With a 4-3 lead into the third period and the Waves putting on the pressure. Hockey, We still have March to Go!
Last weekend, last day of February. The shortest month is over and spring will soon be here. The backyard rinks have started to melt and while this is the time for a Fool’s Spring – hockey is still with us. This weekend brought the kids two games and two wins! The urgency of defense seems to have settled in and the bunching of teammates is finally starting to fade. Exciting weekend!
